Went walking in the park across town yesterday, and I spotted this gracious lady about six feet from the sidewalk. It's a soft-shelled turtle, and from the distance it was from the water and the use of her hind feet to scoop at the earth, I will infer that she is female and was digging a nest for her eggs.
I hope that nobody disturbs her or her young.
