He literally formed from the idea of "What would be a funny catchphrase for a pred?"

Also hyenas are ridiculously fitting for 'bad boy' personas.

Nate was stolen from a young age from his biological parents by the Gahin company (the same unsavory folk who also puppynapped Blake, Taizen and Antaka) and was experimented on for most of his childhood. Eventually (out of the 100 candidates) only he, Antaka, Blake and Taizen were considered to be a "success". They were each infused with an overwhelming amount of power and groomed to become the vessels for The Heralds, four powerful beings who serve Roshek, the god of death and chaos. Their bodies would be able to withstand the immense chaotic power of the Heralds and would usher in new age of untold destruction. Gahin, in their infinite arrogance, did not consider that their four most powerful subjects would one day stage a succesful coup. Many lives were lost that night, and Nate never saw his fellow captives again. With his powers of suggestion and manipulation, however, he has been able to keep a low profile and do whatever he wants. Deeply scarred by the horrors inflicted on him, Nate has all but broken and is determined to turn his back on a world that never showed him any compassion or care.
