The Paladin comic, while currently on a temporary hiatus, has quite a few different types of dragons that I'd like to reveal, and Arama'zul is one of them.

Firstly, it must be noted that the use of a 'Z' in a dragon's name was, at one time, to indicate femininity. Right, now that that is over with, let's get onto details.

Arama'zul was once a western Prometheus Dragon, an ancestor as you will, and many dragon lineages stem from her; the Greenwings, Emeraldscales, and the Venomtooth broods being the three most prominent. She would still be alive in the current day and age if not for her consort of the time, a Prometheus Dragon known as Grimskull the Black, the precognitor to the black-scaled dragons of the age, who murdered her when she would only lay eggs of green-scaled dragons.

Death didn't slow her down much, though, and she lives on, technically, as an undead; the first and possibly only Spirit Dragon. She resides within the Temple of Light, where the Paladins make their base of operations. Speaking from the shadows, she is a wise and influential member of the Paladin's leading ranks, the Counsel of Light. She's been known to materialize from time to time, usually for brief times to converse at length with the younger Paladin recruits. She has a soft spot for female dragons who have known the joy of bearing young.

Wise beyond comprehension, she spends most of her time in the library, literally hanging around. Her skeletal remains are on display in the massive room of twenty-thousand tomes, and she is at her strongest corporeally when near her mortal remains. Like all spirits, she features the wound that severed her soul from her body, in her case a through-and-through hole that impaled her heart. She loves children, but cannot stand too much loud noise; a habit she has picked up from residing in a library.
