the winchester .30-30 is for 200m, the sks is pretty good up to 300, and the marlin .223 will do 400 easily

when buying a russian sks, make sure to take it apart and check to see what type of recoil spring it has. you want a wire spring not a ribbon spring :3

sorry for the late response XD yes they are BUT the wire springs tend to be shorter (little shorter and a bit of a bitch to align sometimes) because the wire absorbs energy easier. therefore, there might be other modifications you need to make in order to change out the ribbon for the wire spring. if you get a modern sks, its pretty unlikely to get one with a ribbon style spring in it.
