1. Macrauchenia is unrelated to any modern day species of mammal
2. They evolved in South America along with Sloths and Armadillos
3. They died out at the end of the ice age
4. Charles Darwin discovered the species on the voyage of the beagle
5. We know it had a trunk due to pictographs found in Columbia
