I'm currently teaching myself to digitally color the professional way, and as a test, I did a practice session on a page from my webcomic serial. It didn't come out too bad, though I do see a number of mistakes that I've made and a couple of bad choices in approach. But this was done to familiarize myself with the software and the approach, and I'll do better the next time around.
You won't see this version in the webcomic itself -- the actual page will remain in black and white; you'll be able to see (and read -- I only put in dummy balloons here to see how the final page would look with balloons inserted) it as of 28 July 2010. Those seeing it before that date can think of it as a teaser.

One thing to try: Make the black bordered panels (flashbacks?) more washed out or even monochrome, to really get the point across that they're not necessarily realtime.

HTH. :)
