Patreon Activity - May 2021
A substantial part of May was spent making up for Patreon work left over from April due to various hardships. I worked on far fewer commissions than I like as well. But for the most part, I got through the majority of it!
May also saw a full implementation of my new life schedule/balance goals; it does mean drawing slightly less, but when I do draw, it tends to be more productive.
I want to stress something that I don’t think people realize about me and how I live my life. I work nearly all the time and that isn’t sarcasm. I usually work in some capacity 60-70 hours per week across my three jobs. My “days off” are having a few hours of free time Wednesday and Saturday in the evening following my most intense workdays of the week (Newspaper ‘Hellday’ [Tuesday/Wednesday] and Bookstore [Saturday].
On top of that, while I do still live at home with my mom, I have taken on more home ownership like responsibilities to earn my right to live here. The big project around the house is reseeding large bare portions of lawn. That involves raking up debris, tilling the soil, and spreading seeds and fertilizer. Then I also handle mowing, pulling weeds, and picking up sticks. When it is raining during my housework times, I do cleaning indoors. This all usually amounts to about 4-6 hours a week on top of above.
Also in April, I experienced some severe depression, part of which was related to how hopeless I felt about my largest life project, Kindred Legacy, the Minecraft modification. I had done virtually nothing for it for months. After I built my new life schedule, Minecraft modding has been inserted back into my life and I do about 4 hours of that every week. It isn’t much for a 1,000+ hour to date project, but it is better than nothing.
If you are interested in my modification, here is an update: The mod is being rebuilt from the ground up for 1.15.2 to implement on the server I play on, the same server that last year’s 4th of July Video was recorded on. The hope is to get the mod back to the state that it was at about nine months ago just in time for this year’s 4th of July video next month. Vastya Ninetales is expected to make her glorious return to the mod for the event.
The rebuilding of the mod was necessary to bring it to modern standards of programming and Minecraft coding. This hypothetically should make it substantially easier to update the mod to 1.17 when the time comes. Everyone I play with on the server anxiously awaits that.
I do hope to distribute a 1.15.2 version of the mod to the general public around the time I begin updating to 1.17. I’m trying really hard to restore 1.15 to have all the content it had in 1.12, the previous major version which is available to the public.
So there you should have an idea of just how busy I am. If I seem sloppy or lazy with how I handle social media, that is largely why, because I have so much else going on.
As for May content, we saw two significant pictures created which really show how far I’ve come as an artist: one for colored pencil and the other digital. The traditional piece involved me coming up with effects I would have thought was only practical to do digitally a year ago. That was extremely exciting to see accomplished.
The digital piece shows a new technique implemented for shading, and it substantially improved the workflow of pieces and upped the quality. Digital is still not something I am comfortable offering to the general public, so that is a friends only media. Eventually when I feel I am more effective in executing it, I’ll open it up to the public.
Patreon had a poll dedicated to Autumn the Leafeon for Leafeon Day in the month of June. Look forward to lots of leafy goodness! :Dc
Lastly, I did a very special thing to me. I brought out to the general public Mega Clypse, the mega form of my Pokesona to match his waifu Volvautia. I was super shy and embarrassed about his design to post publicly. But the responses I have gotten so far was overwhelmingly positive and I already have lots of people wanting to see more of him. You can look forward to seeing him matching the big ladies in size now and then. >w<!
June is here! “Vacation is where I want to be, playing on the beach where I fill it all!”
The theme for most of the doodles this month was characters performing their roles in the world.
