The time: July 25, 2009; The place: Kissimmee, FL; The event: "Megaplex" (Florida's annual 'furry convention') whose theme that year was "Christmas in July".
I was having a great time at the convention, until I realized I was low on cash, so I was seeking an ATM from a local branch of my bank (Bank Atlantic) in the Orlando area... only to learn that all of them went out of business! (And I didn't want to use any other ATM; otherwise, I'd have to pay two fees - one from my bank, and one from the bank I was making the withdrawal from).
In desperation, I set up a table out in the lobby, and wrote a sign that read "Will do commissioned artwork for gas money!". And while waiting for a potential customer, I began to draw some improvised images...
The following image - rendered one year ago today - finds 'Rob Cat' with one of Santa's reindeer, debating the venue for this themed convention, and the ensuing results, thereof. (I'd added color to this sketch, since then.)
BTW, the "Megaplex" staff made me put away my art supplies, so I couldn't get anyone to buy my art. Luckily, anthroartist Scudder Kidwell of Ocoee, FL was also in attendance, and he'd lent me $20 - which was enough to refill my car's gas tank, for the return trip home to Margate.
This drawing is dedicated to him!

Surely someone will be nice enough to place both you and Comet into pails, Rob. We can't have you two melting away on us now
I recall last year's Megaplex discussion with you. The heat, utterly atrocious, was something I gawked at. One hundred ten degrees is far too muggy and warm for my tastes.
The illustration is manufique~ I enjoy how you both are cranky due to overexposure to the sun. Someone's a cranky kitty, hehe ^^
