Apparently I had scanned this a while back and somehow didn't transfer the scan to my gallery until later. Sorry for the delay.
So "Mayternity" is officially over, but my present queue will last another 13 days (including today's) at two posts a day, and that doesn't include other scans yet to be made, and other sketches to be drawn. But I don't confine my theme of "tribute to impending motherhood" to a single month. I'll keep on it for a while. If I can, forever.
Pregnancy in art is a topic of many opinions. Mine is that it should be treated as beautiful. After all, I don't think I know a single individual who didn't come from a pregnancy. And of those women, of human and beast, who have experienced it, whether your experience was wonderful and dreamy, or painful and body-wrenching, I say thank you for being the portals by which your child(ren) could come into the world.
Now this month, Father's Day is coming up. Those fathers are key in initiating pregnancy in the first place. I love being a father to my children. But you can bet that I enjoyed observing them through touch before they were born. I loved watching how they prenatally grew within their mother and my mate. My only regret is that I wasn't more diligent in capturing a lot of pictures of each pregnancy. And unfortunately, it seems my wife's ability to get pregnant again may not be possible. But even if I did not capture pictures of what was, I can still make images of what I hope can be. I believe this time in mortality is not the end. I believe our souls will exist forever. You can bet my wife and I will do what it takes to see if we can experience life as otters or other favorite creatures, especially if we can try to experience pregnancy once more. My beliefs are pretty specific, but you guys came here for pregnancy art. So enjoy!
