A few months prior to meeting her future husband again as an adult, Kiara originally had a different lion mate (boyfriend) named 'Chakula'. He had moved to the Pride Lands only a few weeks before, yet both Kiara & Chakula fallen for each other quite quickly. Simba didn't like the thought of his daughter getting with someone at such a young age (Chakula was also already an adult, which frustrated Simba even more). So he tried preventing them from meeting up with each other. But it didn't work, they would often meet up secretly and enjoy lovely sleeps by the lakeside. Of course, Simba knew all about this, they weren't the best at hiding their meetups.

This would continue until one day when... Chakula disappeared. Kiara searched everywhere in the Pride Lands for her missing boyfriend, she even got the Lion Guard to try help find him, but there was no trace of him anywhere. It was like he had vanished from the face of the Earth. The general theory was that he'd left the Pride Lands to go some place else, as he'd used to be a sort of traveller prior to arriving at Pride Rock, going across all the savannah.
And eventually Kiara accepted this, and despite being married, she'd still wish Chakula well, and hoped he might return one day, as a friend.


But the thing is... Chakula had never left.

He was still VERY much inside the Pride Lands AND a 'big' part of Simba's 'Pride'.
Or to be more specific...

...he was now a part of Simba's newly Plump Prideful Gut...



And so in a way, he will always be watching over Kiara...
Just not in the place she'd suspect...
