One of 4 mermaid OCs I've been working on for Mermay. Since May's ending, I figured it's best I finish them when I can.

Biography: Atsuko is one of the many 1/2 mermaids born to Junichiro & Palutena, coming 2 days just before Melkey, the last of the 2nd batch was born. She is also one of the handful of unique 1/2 mermaids to have a tail other than a typical mermaid's. In her case, she is considered an Eelmaid. Growing up, Atsuko has been quite eager to go out and see the world, especially the worlds beyond her own. As such, she signed up with Lysandra, Adalinda, Margarites, and Senta into becoming a member of Fairy Tail once it was found she had quite the magical talent, and she believed joining Fairy Tail would help her be more focused with her talents. While training her magical arts, she found her best affinities were for slime magic, and even Arcane magic. While managing these, she even took up learning Bojutsu, learning how to fight close quarters with staves, easily getting the hang of it in 3 days even. Atsuko eventually proved herself and was able to join Fairy Tail alongside Lysandra, Adalinda, Margarites, and Senta where they continue to unlock their magic potentials, and stand ready to face any threats that come to Earth Land, Olympia, or otherwise. Atsuko is best described as a fearless fighter, but like anyone else in her family, she has a good heart and is quite friendly to everyone she meets, unless they're an enemy, then it's a different story. Atsuko is also a hopeless mudlark like Elysia, Delphi, Sorcha, and Athena to name a few. Anytime there's a pit of quicksand or something similar nearby, one can bet Atsuko will bolt for it and submit to it instantly. Apart from this, she's also a bit of a tomboy, preferring suits that match her figure over dresses. Aside from quicksand, she's also a big slime fanatic; a side effect from mastering slime magic. If there's one thing that sets her off, it's being called a naga, and she is not one to tell off the offender with a harsh correction. Makes the best crabcakes & lobster rolls.
Abilities: Being 1/2 mermaid, Atsuko is capable of taking on her mermaid form whenever she enters the water be it sea, or fresh water. Despite being an Eel Mermaid, specifically a Moray Eel Mermaid, Atsuko does not possess the inner jaw morays possess as it would cause problems for her. Instead, Atsuko uses her magic to make a makeshift jaw like that of morays in her hand to grab something out of reach. A talented Archmage, Atsuko is a proven master of Arcane magic, using it ever wisely, and to its fullest extent, too. Slimomancy is another field of hers she's mastered; being able to conjure and manipulate any form of slime at her leisure, but as it is mostly a defensive magic, it is hardly used in long term fights. Like her other magic using sisters, Atsuko foregoes using wands, preferring the more combat friendly staves and she carries a staff received from Queen Serenity as her main weapon. Having studied bojutsu, she treats the staff as both a magic, and a melee weapon easily. And she is quite the proven Bojutsu master, too. Her starting gear & magic are as follows.
Crystalline Staff: A very sturdy staff made of purest crystal. It makes for a good casting staff, but it's hard enough to act as a melee weapon, too.
Arcane Magic: As part of her Sticky Arcana, Atsuko is a great practitioner of arcane magic. She has access to a lot of spells in the arcane field, and majorly uses it to fight, defend, conjure items, or even blink from one place to another.
Slimomancy: As part of her Sticky Arcana, Atsuko also practices slime magic. With this, Atsuko can conjure up sticky slime without warning & use it for different purposes, such as holding foes down, trapping them in blobs, or even just humiliating her targets.
