I'd say jump. That would logically be the most fun method. And given the way she looks, she's looking for fun. Just stepping into a puddle is a bit anticlimactic.
And of the off-chance that it is a pit, she would be more poised to actually land than by just stepping in. I've fallen into a few holes IRL, and jumped down into others (both during the course of work, helping to weld PVC pipe for oilfield stuff). Falling into a hole is much more of an "oh crap oh crap oh crap!" moment, while jumping down into one is more of an "ok, gotta do this" thing.
