Well, I just meant a --tripod--. Creativity is the key: there are so many perfect obstacles for holding the camera against out in the wild :D - just look a little back in my gallery for examples (Think about it. How convenient would a full sized tripod be on a 20km long hike sometimes through dense vegetation or up on steep hillsides in -10°C. Well, I actually had to warm up the batteries before photographing  ).
Huh, sure an interesting place :) - Well, winds are not the best mixed with temperatures below zero, it is good we are not some too windy country so even like -20°C is only bad for the camera (That old Olympus C2500L I have however seems to stand these conditions well) at least when you have proper clothing and did not manage to take a deep dive in some stream :3
Did I tell I had any gloves? :) (I go by plugging my arms in the arms of the coat, across my chest. I can hold my balance pretty well even on steep grades, so no problem). Well, the temperature is really a problem, you get water condensing on the lens, need to wait, warm the battery to get the thing working at all, your hands are like freezing off, small icicles hanging from your bread etc... But otherwise you can not get to shoot some awesome ice formations in those remote caves, for example :D
These temperatures are rare though, at least rare to last for such a long time like 2 weeks here which is needed for ice to grow in caves. Usually it is like -5 to 0 in winter here, sometimes with a few days peaking at +10°C. Snow falls, then in two weeks sometime, melts. This year we had two weeks in the end of December, the start of January when it never got over like -5°C in the mountains. Sometimes we don't even have snow for the entire winter.
