first shot with my brand new Nikon D90.

i took two NIkon 50mm lenses and stacked them in a reversing pattern to get a macro shot of this little microprocessor?

its about 3/8's of an inch LxW

What was the effective focal length?

two 50mm's stacked so like 100? both were at infinity focus

But with the longer effective lens geometry and the fact that at least one of the lenses would be reversed (I think?) should make that focal length greater. I don't know what the formula is.

That's one of the nice things about the AF 105mm Macro. I can reverse a 50mm on it and double the magnification. (Of course I also halve the minimum focus distance and depth of field is near nil :) ) But it's fun for really small stuff.
