This story is written for

Aria is blessed by the yellow crystal, and wakes up in a fractured world composed of splinters of once larger worlds. All the worlds have one thing in common, having fallen victim to a creature of legend. One who is said to devour both time and space. With the help of two new friends Aria must navigate this strange series of worlds and find a way to stop the beast of legend before it consumes everything.

IX! I just replayed through IX recently, that city is terrifying. It's also apparently like the main threat in the MMO FF11 but I've never played that one. It shows up as a boss fight in 14 and a few other games... And I think was a summon in 6 as well, but I could be misremembering it's been awhile since I played 6.
