This is what I make when I mix not sleeping for a few days with series like Hooked and River Monsters and The Little Mermaid XDXD

Some history and facts; Malestrom was born as one of the last giant mermen, and he soon learned size shifting by his mother to protect himself, though his mother was killed when he was rather young. Having to teach himself to hunt he began with easy prey, slow going fish and other creatures that he could out swim. As he grew he started going for bigger and bigger prey, up till he was the top predator in the sea where he lives. One time he got trapped in a fisherman’s net, and was dragged into a boat. After a few minutes he got out of the net and attacked the fisherman, swallowing him whole. This became a turning point in his menu, since he found men tasty, wriggling and just the perfect size, and there was an endless amount of them in the island he lived by. He don’t truly actively hunt for humans but he will go for them if they cross his path. For most of his life Malestrom thought about humans as the same as fish, stupid simple minded creatures that tasted good. But one time, when he was resting in a small cove he saw a young man sitting on a small dock. Going closer and revealing himself to the human he expected the usual panic and fear, but was surprised to get a curious and rather friendly greeting. After that day he visited the young man, who lived alone in a large house by the cove, about every day, and became good friends with the young man. He still eats humans whenever he can, but does so away from his friend. Malestrom is a playful predator and like orcas and dolphins he will play with his food if he’s not very very hungry. This gives humans and other intelligent creatures in the water a chance to talk him out of eating them, if they talk fast and he starts to like them that is. Pleading and begging and screaming or threatening only excites or annoys him. Malestrom swims like a shark, moving his body from side to side instead of up and down like a whale. Malestrom can also use his magic to turn into a human form, though he very rarely does this because he's uncomfertable as a small human.
