Indigenous to Neu Samara, Thorn Jaws are diurnal scavengers that hunt in pairs or small packs, chasing off larger, solitary hunters and stealing their kills. They are warm blooded, mass from 350 to 500lbs and have a tough scaly hide and bands of much thicker cutaneous material down its back.

Though they can hunt, their weak hindquarters limit them to smaller, slower prey than other predators their size.

Colonists especially dislike these beasts due to their bold demeanor, sometimes coming out of the woods, digging under fences and stealing smaller livestock while people are present. A few wealthy residents of Neu Samara have captured and attempted to domesticate Thorn Jaws as guard animals, but beyond learning a few basic tricks for rewards when they feel like it, these beasts show no respect for anything alien to their world, and very little on Neu Samara itself save for other Thorn Jaws.

While Thorn Jaws are edible, they have a gamy, slightly bitter taste, and only about 10% of the animal produces edible meat.
