My first new OC in a while! I actually stated this design a few months ago, but was caught up on the face, and suddenly the other day it just clicked and I had everything I needed. The idea was to make my own of a specific character genre I've always been a sucker for- the lanky, fancy, toothy and often evil caped man. You know, tumblr sexyman bait. He's derivative of several designs but not meant to be decipherable as any one in particular.

Rook (Real name Zavattariornis, known only to his wards and then often shortened to Zava, he/him agender) is a neutral/evil glutton spirit who acts as a fairy godfather for hire, of sorts- in exchange for being able to eat a certain amount of his new ward's lifespan (the base agreement is three years, he won't NOT accept more) he'll act as a protector and kill and consume anything seriously threatening them.

He's not hard to find and while he'd argue that living three years less than you would have is nothing if you were going to die right then and there without him, you also better be very sure you need him. If the problem resolves itself the agreement doesn't just poof, he'll be hanging around the ward eating off their lifespan until he gets bored and, probably, ends up just outright eating them. Sometimes if a new threat shows up he'll just take that as his meal and move on, though.

Usually he ends up hired by parents to watch over kids who've gotten themselves cursed or are east targets for any number of things, adults are often too stubborn to hire him out, and he ends up getting a surprising amount of foolish, scared teens to hire him directly. It's not ever guaranteed to go badly, though.

Rook is generally smug and troublesome and he really doesn't lend a hand with anything other than exactly what he was hired for- eat the thing to protect the ward, he won't help them with anything else and won't worry about saving anyone else either. He doesn't tend to harm people though, at least not with his own hands.
