Well I know it's also been quite awhile since I last shared any pics of m'crabitat an it's residents an since I know there are (or may be) other crabitat enthusiests out there who might be intrested ta know that from my own observations that freshwater hermit crabs seem to have no troubles co-habitatin' with other freshwater crabs as shown in this pic. On the far right middle of the pic ya can see one of the smaller hermit crabs busy foragin' the grounds a few inches from the neighborhood pool where one of the freshwater crabs (a Redclaw Mangrove) is loungin' in the shallows of the pool between the rocks and plastic rim of the pool.
In fact the pool is also kept stocked with mosquito fish and the redclaws will sometimes dredge up a dead fish or even wrestle a live one out of the shallows and purposely head towards a hermit who helps secure the poor fish while the two start feasting away... I've also seen them 'playing' tag/king of the mountain as they chase each other across the rock 'mountain' an take turns on the summit heh...
...I had also added a frestwater goldclaw fiddler to the crabitat but've only seen it once since it was added... hopefully the lil' critter will play his lil' fiddle on the rocks...
...Anyways, now at least ya know that ya can find crab species that co-habitate well in yer own crabitat if ya ever have an intrest in these fun lil' critters :)

Well I hope ya do an that it brings ya the joys I've had while watchin'em... I have my crabitat pretty much set up as 'natural' ta a coastal enviroment as I can... the tank is most always kept between 1/3rd to half full with a few rocks an mostly sand... found 4 smallish sized rocks about fist-sized ta serve as the cornerstone foundations fer restin' their 'pool' on... which is basically one'a those large tupperware food storage containers (bout 6in. deep)... first I gave the tank a soft bedding of natural, untreated wood shavings bout half inch deep then rested the corner stones fer the pool in that then covered the entire floor of the tank with sand till just the tips of the cornerstones were seen then rested the the 'pool' container on that, further stabled it with a few larger, flatish stones both around the outside of the pool an a few within an added gravel fer the bed of the pool then filled the rest'a the tank with sand ta cover the outside pool an rocks about halfway then ya can further 'decorate with small plants... I found that succulents are a delicacy with the hermits an they will even dig up the roots ta eat the whole plant even an so I replant those bout every couple weeks with new plant food fer the crabbies as part'a their diets too but that's also part'a the charm'a havin'/keepin' a terarium anyways is ta do a bit'a 'gardening' as well heh so yeah I think ya might enjoy this f ya do give it a try :)
