When exiled Valerien Vice came to Saltmarsh, he brought with him his sixteen daughters. Hungry for power, he entered dark bargains with the creatures of the nearby Dreadwood to kill his foes and expand his empire on the region, in exchange for many of his timid daughters.

Velara Vice was always quiet and timid, afraid to say anything that would send her father into his many blind rages. One night, when he returned without three of her sisters, she couldn't help but scream at him, which she was beaten harshly for.

When she was alone in her room, she cried out to the night and the ancient wolf goddess Tellria for an angel to come and save her. She wasn't expecting to be visited by Shylara, a celestial made of rings and swords and fire, who gave her eldritch powers and helped her escape.

Velara is now a capable adventurer, though still haunted by her past and bearing the last marks her father left on her as a reminder of what unchecked evil can do.
