Yuba's Monster Guide: Monster Chalices are demon type monsters. They have no real combat abilities themselves but make up for with their powerful summoning abilities. Able to call in small armies of monsters at will they can hold their enemies at bay. Though there are limits as the summoning gates they use takes up a huge amount of mana to keep open. Even more depending on the size of the gateway. Edgar is one of Biff's earliest (though not willing) allies. We've all indulged in some buffets thanks to his power. *Giggles* Though it looks like he knows how to pack them away himself after all! Here's a another fun fact. Besides the hammer space type stomach apparently prey they eat are coated with a special magic slime when inside. It basically preserves there meals for up to several hundred years! Wonder how many are inside him.
