Last in the series of three, another band of would-be heroes search out a small tauren village for guidance. After getting directions from the Cenarion Circle, they arrive and ask questions about their race and culture. The one friend though human, seeks to understand more about the tauren as a people, the other merely wants their power.
After being given a special meeting, the elders quiz the travellers about their lives to understand more their motives, when they feel they need more evidence of their character, they bring them to a small altar where they are instructed to inhale the fumes from a small dish. After doing so, they are transformed.
the honest and curious one becomes a tauren, and his friend who desired power got it, in exchange for his entire personality and intelligence, becoming a mindless kodo. They are sent on a journey for higher understanding, if they should ever wish to be normal again.
This was a fun series, I liked this one the most, probably because i made a Tauren character originally and based this one off of him. I'm debating doing more of these pairs, but we'll have to see, the human and elven changes aren't really that drastic.

I love the art, but if the kodo is truly mindless then being sent on this journey willl not avail him since he can neither remember who and what he was, nor understand the purpose of the journey. Being mindless implies an inability to learn, which would defeat the point. It would be better if you had said "the honest and curious one is sent on a journey for higher understanding, if he should ever wish to be normal again. His mindless companion and former friend would forever remain his faithful mount."
It's fine. I was just confused by the pronouns and wanted to make sure whether you meant 'he' (the tauren) or there might be something left in the kodo's head that could potentially relearn what was lost. Who is it a punishment for? It can't be a punishment for the kodo since, being mindless and not remembering his past, he is - as you say - content being large.
