Kudos to  Moss for this in-stream commission!

My one project -- a belated writing to be titled, "Nishiyuki!" or "Going West!" -- is a novel about a girl named Feng, who was born with a monkey's face, and taken in to be raised by Soushigai (Street Monks) in a world so far removed from our modern-day era. She's eventually chosen to go on a quest to collect specific artifacts, to create a . . . thing that may one day save the world as she knows it.

One of the first "companions" she acquires is a young woman named Nousagi Akarui; who lives as a priestess in an abandoned temple in what remains of Western China. Akarui is meant to help her, because of a geas on her left eye that allows her to locate magical artifacts.

The two adventure together at first, and before they locate any new companions, they have a real test of their courage and skills, dealing with an ancient monster in a cave. They escape with their lives and bodies intact, and manage to give each other that look of "We survived, and we may look back on this in the future, and laugh . . . but, for now, let's NOT do that again!".

Both Feng and Akarui looking worse for wear, but they're not out for the count yet!

Again, much thanks to Mossy for doing this! I haven't commissioned her in AGES, and this was a great way to get back into commissions again!
