It was a tidal wave of flavor, that straw that tasted so bitter before, seemed an unearthly ambrosia. He devoured it in seconds, then he picked another, eyeing it over for worms or decay, and then took a bite once again, feeling content he began to walk away and savor the apple. Unfortunately for Chris, this time the fruit was bitter, worse than the first time. It actually sent pain racing through his jaw. The inflammatory pain jetted from area where he bit down on his jaw, racing through his skull and into his brain. From there redirected, it cascaded throughout his upper body, where a tingling sensation set in.
The pain transformed to something unidentifiable, and reverberated throughout his chest into his arms and then dwindling as it rattled in his equine lower parts. He recoiled in shock, not noticing that he shrunk slightly, and that his jaw was not only inflamed in pain, but was losing the definition he’d bore for nearly half a year or that his teeth were re-aligning. His middle finger now went numb, and as one hand tried to massage the facial pains away, he shook the other to remove the sudden numbness. Chris began to believe the second apple was poisoned.
