Those seemingly alien lumps continued to grow into very developed hooves, until at last removing themselves entirely from his body. Weak and nearly formed legs had escaped his lengthening abdomen, which was beginning to divide into two separate torsos one humanoid and the other completely equine.
His legs were once again hind legs, and his backside and thighs reverted to equine form again, as they grew to support his increasing weight and bizarre form. Chris began to wonder in his rather confused state of mind if this was just another step backwards in regaining his humanity.

As I stated before, this is probably the weakest series of the whole 20 pages. However I'm fond of the "last stand" cliche.
