A dragon I bought a long while back from Unravel! Don't know why it took me so long to upload it, but he is easily one of my favorites.
General character inspiration quote: "If someone else has to step in so I may live through my battles, then I did not deserve to remain standing. I alone should responsible for my own survival. My shoulders alone should hold the weight of my life."
Still do not have any real ideas on his history that caused his legs, claws, and eyes to glow as they do. Some kind of otherworldly near-death experience involving exotic powers and strange dimensions likely. What he can do with the scars of power it left him with...well that's up in the air right now too.
Below needs to be rewritten it is a bit of...well, word salad.
The glow is inter-dimensional instability. An energy that builds within him from exposure to exotic energies that infected and changed his body irreversibly. The energy now builds in him like a conduit, it is an unstable energy that living beings normally cannot withstand, but his Pr'ryndrai lineage enables him to hold together better than most.
This energy is painful. Using it stresses his body in numerous supernatural ways. Yet, if he does not, it will build up and damage his body anyway. For most dragons, this energy would be a curse, as it is a constant game of limits.
Thriden is a dragon of discipline, and over time he molded this unstable energy into a unique ability to hop dimensions for a fraction of a second, allowing short range teleports that amplify his already fearsome physical prowess with unpredictability.
The glow in his claws represents the collection of this energy. As it spreads, it indicates how long it has been since he has used the ability. Even though it is painful, he usually allows it to build until he has enough energy to do short range teleports for a while before wearing himself out, knowing intimately how to manipulate it to get the most benefit from it's unique properties. He has become a master at managing it, and many dragons do not realize the intense burden the power actually is because Thriden simply has the shoulders to bear it.
When the energy is at the tips of his talons and that is all that is left of its glow, it would be observed that he will look disheveled and exhausted, blood slowly streaming from his nostrils and his eyes appearing bloodshot.
But it is not without drawbacks
