“Hey, not a bad team comp!” Corey chuckled. I couldn’t help but beam with and almost parental pride! I had raised these little monsters from eggs, worked out their EVs and IVs, and was now qualifying for the Finals!
“Yeah, I’m really proud of it! Though… what’s this new event downloading?”
He shrugged back to me. “Dunno! There’s a new one almost every week. I think this one’s supposed to tie in with Pokemon Go? Something about getting Trainers out of the house.”
The Switch gave me a little notification that the download had completed, and I took a moment to restart the system. As I reached down to unlatch one of the Joycon controllers, there was a tiny zap. Huh… well, it was getting pretty dry. Probably static.
“Alright, let’s see what you’ve got!” I grinned, tossing him the miniature controller. He was ready with a sly quip, though it seemed to get caught in his throat. I recognized the glance at his hands, understanding he’d probably been shocked too.
“Heh… weird. Well, I sure how you can put out more damage than that little Thundershock.”
I nodded and loaded up my team. Always one to start off strong, I sent out my ace Pokemon first.
“Get a load of THIS!” I growled, instantly choosing to Dynamax him! What I hadn’t noticed was my unusually toothy grin! Corey’s ears perked. Wait… they shouldn’t be able to do that! He chuckled. As a storied veteran of TF, he knew exactly what was happening.
“Incineroar, huh?”
I growled and tilted my head. “Yeah! He’s awesome! Strong and gruff and hits like a truck! Wait’ll ya see what he…”
It was just then that I noticed the unusual baritone of my voice; the lengthy claws at the end of my flame-red fingertips. Standing up, I realized I’d been sitting uncomfortably on a long, striped tail!
My.. tail!?
Corey couldn’t suppress a grin, holding up his own hand-paws. He already knew what he was going to see, and I realized he was showing me just as much as he was as observing the change for himself. His clothes were already ripping apart, pushed past their breaking point thanks to his fluffy new pelt. It wasn’t until the nine signature, luscious tails of his namesake burst from the seat of his pants that the change really hit home!
“Ah! I see you’re a Fire-type too. A gentlemew of TASTE!”
“F-fire type?” I gulped, looking down in a panic at the state of my own clothes. Crackling flames were lashing at the edges of my favorite shirt, burning it away bit by bit. Curiously, that heat felt utterly harmless against my now fireproof fur! Almost comforting, even.
“Rh-rhooooar!?!”

Woooow! This one is just so cool! Anabel did an amazing job with the texture of that fluffy fur and I love the colors!! Gah!! I don’t have the words to thank Corey for how awesome this one came out!! ^_^
This is curious thing, but I really love getting the high-rez files, or even the original .PSDs that the artist produced! As a fellow art-phag, I love being able to dissect how they did certain things. Oooh, a gradient here, or a highlight there… a whole layer for bounced light or a bit of chromatic aberration. There are such cool little techniques here and there that I totally wanna borrow and figure out how to use in my own stuff! One thing I know I have a lot of difficulty with is color choice. Often, they look too faded, or too saturated, or too jarring. Color is a factor of light, which I understand in theory. In practice, though… *throws himself out a window*
ANYWAYS! Get fired-up over some amazingly awesome Pokemon TF! I know I will be!
