Crag and his son Obsidian transformed into Lizal/Kobold slaves, to fit into the artists world. I really like these versions of my characters.

A little bit of story as art inspired and artist approved.
Life was difficult on the docks of the gilded collar on the gilded isles. But, it was far better then working in the slaves mines cut off from the sun and the sea. If you could call the ocean water of the docks part of the sea. It stank, and the waters of the canals and docks were coated in oils of waste that ran off into it. Even the fish that lived in these sickly waters looked equally ill as silt always clouded the ocean water with all the ships constantly passing through. Suffocating everything.
I try to tell the boy stories of what it was like for me at his age growing up on the Okean Islands. As hard as it is for me to remember, and even harder still for him to believe. Unlike my son, I was not born a slave, but free. It is the only life he has ever known and all the stories sound like a fairy tale to him. But at least it gives him hope as stories should.
I miss the turquoise waters that are the color of my eyes. I miss my ancestral home, clan, and village. I miss tending to the small plot of land alongside my home walled by coral rock and roofed by thatch. A land were I grew cassava, sweet potatoes, breadfruit and squash among other things. I miss mangos after the rainy season that grew so fat the very branches of the tree would break under its weight. I miss the song of birds and parrots in the forest, of hunting agoutis in the coastal dry forests and waterfowl in the swamps sling in hand.
I miss fishing..... I want to fish with my son. I want to walk side by side with him on the beach's of our forefathers and collect shells to make jewelry. I want to dive with him to collect conch and wilk. I do not want my son to live this life as a slave. I know in my heart one day we will escape this life. But until then we will take on whatever hardship life throws at us together, as a family.
