I must say the part that points out to me is that old sage puffin his pipe. Is he puffing on pure magic dust or just some cobb? Thats what came to mind first. That little lizard on the bottom gets me aswell.

Thanks! Yeah, just wanted to make the linework a little more interesting to look at. The final painting won't have that look, or at least it will be more subtle.

Generally yes. Since in many cases I've noticed that most cats are assholes. But not all of them of course, I've met a handful of adorable kitties too which have lacked the typical cat behaviour.

Heh... Well, they're kind of the opposite of stupid & happy. They usually seem more intelligent and graceful, while dogs tend to be more clumsy and goofy ( in a cute way ). But cats can get pretty silly and playful too, every once in a while. ( lolcats, anyone? )

Hah hah, no, it's only vaguely inspired by the Lord of the Rings saga, among other things. They're no specific characters - Not yet, anyway. Perhaps I'll draw more of them in the future.
