Polt line: the adventures of 14-year-old Jimmy, a happy-go-lucky teen who makes it his mission to find fun everywhere he goes. This is a challenge because Jimmy lives in Miseryville, the unhappiest town around, run by the megalomaniacal Lucius Heinous the Seventh. Miseryville has one main industry: Misery Inc., purveyors of putrid products guaranteed to cause grief; and they do not come with a money back guarantee. Along with his best friends Heloise (part-time genius, full-time soul-crusher) and Beezy (adventure lover, couch potato, and Jimmy's best friend), Jimmy is determined to surf past all obstacles and bring his infectious enthusiasm to the whole town.

James "Jimmy" Two-Shoes- (Cory Doran) - The eponymous protagonist. He is a perpetually optimistic, thrill-seeking 14-year-old boy. Jimmy is tall, has blonde hair and a gap in his teeth. He wears a light green shirt and blue jeans. He has a mission to spread happiness to Miseryville which makes him a source irritation to Lucius Heinous VII, whom Jimmy nicknames "Lucy". He is often seen doing extreme activities despite Heloise's warnings. Jimmy is also distracted very easily and always thinks he can make anything fun. One of Jimmy's favorite things to do is hang out with Beezy and Heloise. He often acts before he thinks. In "Catalouge of Misery" it is shown he may have financial problems. Jimmy is also very brave and will quickly step into a life threatening situation to help people. Jimmy is also clueless to the fact that Heloise has a crush on him, even when she tries to make it obvious, somewhat due to the fact that whenever she tries to do something nice, it always backfires and turns to an evil plan. It is shown to be almost impossible to get him upset (some of the only things that make him upset are butterscotch and pickles), and he is rather ignorant of the faults in others. Jimmy sometimes annoys other characters especially Lucius. Jimmy and Heloise appear as the only actual "humans" in Miseryville (No characters have mentioned this in the show.) Jimmy apparently hasn't lived in Miseryville for very long, as shown in a few episodes, e.g. he doesn't know about hibernation in 'I Am Jimmy' or didn't know grounded in Miseryville literally means being buried to the head up in 'Pop-Sicles'. He owns a pet monster named Cerbee, whose demeanor is very similar to that of a dog (in fact, the characters always refer to Cerbee as a dog). Jimmy lived somewhere besides Miseryville and somehow ended up there through a series of events, as he mentions snow to Beezy and Heloise, both of whom are clueless about it, as it had never snowed in Miseryville before. Jimmy's house is between Beezy's and Heloise's. He does not appear to attend school. His catchphrase is "Jimmy, you mad genius!", which he often says when he has an idea. Jimmy's and Heloise's parents are never mentioned in the show and also never appear. He is a fan of Runny and the Nosebleeds.
Heloise- (Tabitha St. Germain) - A super-intelligent yet destructive small girl and Jimmy's second sidekick. She is seen as a evil genius who enjoys spreading chaos wherever she goes though she has the appearance of a diminutive, sweet little girl with high-lighted blond hair and teal/gray eyes (Although the shade of her eyes change a little from episode to episode). She wears a crimson gown, regardless of location, and has been occasionally seen wearing glasses. The only times she did change her outfit was in "A Cold Day in Miseryville" when she wore an all black gown and sunglasses while playing the drums, in "Ghostsmackers" when she wore a striped crimson gown as a nightgown, and in "Scent of a Heinous" when she wore a "fancy" dress, lipstick, and ear rings to the perfume opening ceremony (an outfit that did get her a little attention from Jimmy). She wears her hair in a pony-tail style and has a scar on her forehead. It is shown that she might have feet in "Heloise's Big Secret", but all of her outfits are full-length and reach the ground, so they have never been seen. She apparently does not attend school, instead working for Lucius as the head of reaserch and development at Misery Inc. Her job is to create despair-inducing products for the company. When she tries to scientifically explain one of her inventions to Jimmy and Beezy she usually has to give a simpler explanation. She is tactless, self-centered, and sadistic and apparently hates almost everyone she comes in contact with shown when she tied up and dug a grave for a random civilian. However, she does have feelings, proven by her crush on Jimmy. In 'Fused Together' she has a shrine dedicated to Jimmy in a small room hidden behind a cabinet which has almost been found by other characters. Her shrine appears again in 'Pet Rocky' (Only this time it's behind the fireplace). She has a hair-trigger, violent temper. She has a crush on Jimmy but doesn't particularly care for either Beezy or Cerbee, tolerating them (barely) mainly because of her fondness for Jimmy. Heloise constantly tries to make her feelings towards Jimmy known but Jimmy doesn't get the message. In 'The Racing Bug' however, she sometimes wonders why she likes him (Edward Kay said that Jimmy's good nature appeals to the last shred of humanity in her). She is also shown to be annoyed at Jimmy's constant naivety to obvious problems. In 'Happy Birthday Lucius' she seems very happy and proud of Jimmy for being mean to Lucius. One of her most commonly used lines is "Don't get your horns in a twist", a phrase she often uses when dealing with Lucius. She is also shown to envy other girls who come in contact with Jimmy like when she thought Jez and Jimmy were dating when really he was helping Lucius. She is shown to be the only one who isn't scared of the weavils. Her age is unclear, she is considerably smaller than Jimmy, but she is hyper-intelligent and has a job, so she may simply be petite. It is supposed that she may be around the same age as Jimmy and Beezy. She does not engage in any 'normal' activity that might indicate her age, although people have called her "little girl" a few times in the show (including Jimmy) and usually ended up receiving a beating from her. Being nice is impossible for her, no matter how hard she tries, which usually lasts 5–10 minutes, because the evil side of her always wins over. She is generally in her best mood if she is spending time with Jimmy, particularly if they are alone; however, she can quickly lose her temper if someone intrudes, if Jimmy fails to pick up on her affections, or anything that annoys her at all occurs. When she gets really angry/evil her eyes turn into fireballs. She seems to be a lifetime resident of Miseryville, as she is completely clueless when Jimmy mentions snow. It is shown that the other people in Miseryville think she is scary. It is shown that Heloise will do whatever it takes to make people unhappy, especially when it comes to Beezy and Lucius. The only person she ever tries to help is Jimmy. Heloise lives in her own house beside Jimmy's, her home is a tall blue house with a barbecue in her backyard which she uses frequently. She is shown to have issues with ghosts and will "smack" any that she sees. She, like other main characters, is a fan of Runny and the Nosebleeds.
