I wasn’t sure why I felt this way when I woke up. I didn’t recall eating anything bad the night before; in fact, I didn’t recall eating at all. All I recall was feeling sleep hit me like a speeding bullet train the moment I entered my bedroom. I had only managed to slip my boots off before my head hit the pillow, and sleep claimed me immediately. I didn’t even have time to take off my clothes, or get under the covers.
Regardless, when I did wake up, I could feel my stomach twisting immediately. I was barely able to get to my toilet before it came up. Again, I found this confusing due to not eating anything the night before. Come to think of it, I had hardly been eating anything since I got the implant. Only a single meal or so
every month and that was it.
I wasn’t sure what I was expecting when it came out, but it didn’t look like anything I had ever eaten before. It was a mixture of pink, white, and light red, and it had a thick metallic texture to it. It came out about three more times, and then, without so much as a warning, the sick feeling in my gut was just gone. Not only that, but I actually felt strong enough to do a sprint around my neighborhood.
I flushed the odd bile down the toilet and got up to look into the mirror. I looked like a mess. My fur was all matted from sleeping so odd, my mane was all messy, and there was a little bit of that odd pink bile dripping down my lip.
But the really odd thing was my eyes. I had seen them like this several times before, but never in the mirror. Where they should have been that familiar olive green, they were now glowing a bright turquoise blue. They shined brightly, despite the sunlight shining through my bathroom, and despite the bags still under my lids. Even so, I no longer felt tired, and I could feel sleep exiting my system, getting me ready for the day.
Whatever that stuff was, it didn’t matter anymore. I turned on the faucet and washed my face, cleaning the morning crud and residue off despite the dampening it did to my fur. I returned to my room to change my clothes, and with the use of my implant, accessed the internet to play a song. It was time to get ready for the day.
