Even though Shayena grew to be a sullen, mean, touchy cub, she did try to find some common ground with the other cubs in the pride. So, when on one particularly fine (not really) day she happened to overhear her cousin Simba and his best friend Nala discussing their plans for a secret escapade to the Elephant Graveyard, Shaye, of course, immediately expressed her desire to join them in this doubtlessly dangerous (and thus absolutely thrilling) scheme. While on their way there, the cubs came across Malka, who recently became a member of their pride, and convinced him to join them. While not particularly brave himself, Malka nevertheless bought into Shayena's boisterous bluster. Simply put, he was afraid his new friends would think him a scaredy-cat. The four cubs sneaked into the Graveyard under the cover of darkness and, quite predictably, ran into some of the locals. Shaye, who up to this point would actively mock Malka and the others for their caution, was the first to bolt out of there, determined not to tempt fate for no reason. The others, who were just as scared, hurried after her. However, upon returning to the pastures, the cubs realized they lost Nala somewhere on their way! And if Shayena and Malka thought it best not to rush on and go back to Pride Rock to see if she reached it by some other route, Simba courageously turned back to the Graveyard, deciding he'd find his missing friend on his own...
