Heads up, for a better reading experience, you can check out this chapter on SoFurry
Wow. I can't believe it. Finally, the last chapter. Hope you all enjoyed the series so far, and that you all enjoy this cute little (probably way too long) sendoff.
Expect plenty of cheese, and it gets a little slice of lifey, hope you all don't mind. And also, lots and lots of talking as things are wrapped up.
PS: Don't miss the epilogue in the end!
As always, the artwork is made by the amazingly talented
. And thanks to
for convincing me to write a 'short one-shot' to go with the art. Oh, since this chapter is way too long to add in the submission description, you'll have to download the PDF!

Couldn't ask for a better ending... Well maybe if it wasn't for me longing for more!
Wonderful ending, and as I always say, The emotions depicted by main two and those around them is golden. I love putting my own mental image ontop each moment, every blush, reaction and even the final scene of them in the epilogue all playing in my head like a movie. I only really found one spelling error and had no issues throughout the rest of this chapter ( other than my desire for more.)
I was only ganna' leave a simple comment like perfect, but I can't resist explainin' how much this story affects and means to me.
I loved(!) the light hearted twists, the emotional flashback(?) stories, the expressions conveyed with every scene, and lastly I just loved this entire story.
~I can keep going and going on every bit I loved, but I'll just cut it short here and say thank you for writing this ~<3 I look forward to many more stories (Oh an also being able to connect with Flame is a big part on why I loved this story)

Oh my big thanks dude! It's always fun to hear that your characters are relatable and that my readers are able to connect with them. I especially liked writing the flashback stories so I wasn't sure whether to keep them in or not. Ultimately, I decided to do so. Glad you liked it!
Again, thanks for your comments man. Feedback like yours is the highlight of posting a new chapter! :D

Awww it's over! What a satisfyingly sweet ending <3
I love how it all wrapped up and called back to some of the very first chapters, and just how cute you've written Spyro and Flame to be together. Plus Cynder and Ashes was a very pleasant surprise~
I can't express enough how much I love this story, and I'm glad everyone got their happy ending!
I'm hyped to see whatever writing project you work on next, and of course someday I'd love to see more of these two <3

I'm glad I included the storytime scene. I was thinking about cutting it but it seems like a lot of people really like it! And I'm glad you liked my little Cynder and Ashes shiptease. You'll definitely see more of those two as well!
Thanks for your comment dude and I'm glad you enjoyed the finale!

Well you went and did it. It was almost six months ago when I found this story and I am so happy I stuck with it. I'll say this story is quite the recipe to make waterworks out of your eyes haha.
Joking aside though, I was really happy with these two and how everyone's ending played out. Emotions were felt and I just really wanted to keep reading. It felt short to me but that's just me I would've gladly read 200k more words from this story.
I felt so proud for Flamey, he deserved all of it and he also deserved his biggest prize of all, being with his mate Spyro. Those two are adorable and I can't wait for your next projects. Keep up the awesome work dude!!!

Thanks mate! I'm so glad you liked my little Spyro romance so much! Flame was a lot of fun to write and the little guy ended taking charge of his own storyline in ways that not even I expected when I started out with the first chapter and conceptualized what kind of dragon I wanted him to be. His self-actualization actually went a lot further than I had planned.
I'm taking a little break from writing to focus on other things but I'll be back with more Spyro x Flame soon. I also got a few other projects in the works!

I can't tell how happy I was to read your comment. Couldn't have asked for a more beautifully worded sendoff for the series! I promise you though, this won't be the last you see of Spyro and Flame. I'm planning to pick up the story right where we left off as the two guys go on more adventures in The Forgotten Realms! Marriage and perhaps even eggs are very much on the table.
When I "created" Flame, all I had to work with was two lines from A Hero's Tail, the one Spyro game I'm pretty sure nobody played. Sorta had to build him from scratch. The funny thing about writing Flame is that he's one of those characters that really sort of surprises you even as an author. Characters have a way of taking charge of their own storyline sometimes. I had a slightly different third act planned for him, a much shorter one, but once I got there I just couldn't wrap it up like I had planned. Flame needed more time to grow.
All the little things you mentioned, all the plot-threads that I circled back to like Flame's bully, his fears that Spyro was just pitying him and many other things I have to admit were completely unplanned. They occurred to me as I was writing it. And I'm so happy that it did. And ha, I actually ended up calling the final scene with Flame's mom "final boss" as I was writing my notes.
When I started writing this series, I only really had a very loose outline for what I wanted to happen - but I knew exactly how I wanted it to end. In fact, the final scene with the two snuggling up together in Flame's cave was one of the very first scenes I wrote almost a year ago. Everything else was just letting the characters sort of do what they needed to do to get there. It took longer than what it would have had I figured it all out from the beginning, but I'd like to think the series benefited from it.
I'm still very much in the learning phase. But I am very proud of this series and that I managed to give Spyro and Flame the kind of ending they deserved. I ended up putting a fair bit of myself in both of them. To hear that someone managed to connect so deeply with my little red dragon really warms my heart. I'm sure it would really touch Flame to know that too. Or well, I know it would, since I guess I'm writing him, heh.
You're feedback as meant a lot for me right from the start. So a big thanks right back to you for your incredible support! I really can't thank you enough!

I don't even know where to begin!
I remember stumbling upon this story last year, and telling myself "ooh, this is interesting! i should go read it soon!". Unfortunately, life happened, and I never really got the chance to. I'd tell myself that I'd finally start when the time was right, but something kept nipping at the back of my ear, telling me that I SHOULD read it. Not to mention half-jokingly telling myself that this could be one of those stories that'd change my life or something. Well, just yesterday, I finally read it. All of it. And for everything going on in my head right now after literally just having finished the finale 5 minutes ago, all I have to say is thank you, and that I was right about this being life changing in the best way possible.
I don't want to make this too long but I really just am so grateful about how you depicted Flame and his growth. It was like watching a version of myself go through all those things. The pain, heartbreak, peace, love, and warmth. It connected me to emotions and experiences that I knew very well that I needed to feel. Everything felt so genuine. When Spyro and Flame flew, I felt like I was flying with them. When they lost each other, I felt like I had lost someone I cared about. When they reunited, I felt like part of me became whole again. I know this sounds stupid but seeing them go through all that - seeing them finally get the closure they needed, helped me get closure for what I went through as well. I can't emphasize this enough - seeing flame's journey really was like watching myself go through all those things with him. And even aside from all that, I'm just so proud and happy for them. All of them. Flame, spyro, ember, cynder, ashes, everyone! Saying they've been through a lot is an understatement, but seeing them step through the portal into the forgotten realms, with a brand new life ahead of them, filled me with a weird sense of comfort. Of course, there was sadness about the story being over, but a sense of peace knowing that they're living their best lives after everything they've been through.
Sorry, I rambled quite a bit but I just want to say thank you again. For creating a story I, and many others could deeply connect to. For giving these dragons the peace and closure they deserved. And for creating a story that I'll undoubtedly hold close to me heart for as long as I'll live. I know this story ended long ago, and I don't know if we'll see Flame and Spyro's story continue. I we do, of course, but just know that I'm already genuinely grateful for the journey you've taken them and me on.

First of all, thank you so much for your comment! This is the kind of feedback writers like myself (well to the extent I am one anyway) live and breathe! The reason we keep on writing! I still look back fondly at my writing days and it's users like you who motivate me to try to get back on that horse (or keyboard as it were) and get back to storytelling. I have plans for Spyro and Flame and many other projects. And on that note, sorry for not replying sooner! Truly, I meant to reply sooner but as you said yourself, lie just sorta gets in the way.
I don't know exactly where Flame came from. I guess I could say that I put a bit of myself into him and while that wouldn't be untrue, the fact is that we don't have a whole lot in common (I'm more of a Spyro myself!) and as a character, he really kind of just wrote himself. Just like how this story started with a 4000 word fanfic and grew into something much much larger.
I wasn't sure my accidental 200 000 word often improvised Spyro fanfic, which pulls from all Spyro canons and a few headcanons of my own, would make sense to anyone else. But it warms my heart to hear that people managed to connect with Flame and the rest of the cast. He's a good boy. He deserved a happy ending. And I still hope to continue his story one day!
Thanks again mate!
