Fuck. My dad had a 65 Galaxie with the 352 PI. He kept it cherry, I grew up tinkering under the hood of it with him. It was his baby, it was the first car he bought new.

in 1987, I got my license. He gave me the car because I loved it as much as he did with the promise I would take care of it. A year later I totalled it in a foolish race. It was an epic total too. I did one flip and three barrel rolls in it. I survived, the car didnt. I hit so hard it shoved the engine block most of the way into the cab.

He forgave me, but it never cleared my conscience.

I recall, from what i think was a Steve Martin movie, him running into a jap car dealership needing a car now - he had the money and had the keys and was off down the road in a hurry, but the car was running like crap, and he pulled over in a short distance and opened the hood. Laying alongside the engine, was a Japanese guy in a tech/lab coat outfit with a ratchet in one hand and engine parts in the other, he looked up and in broken english excliamed "I told them they shipped these things too fast..."
