Being raised from birth as nothing more than a slave Yara stares hopelessly into the eyes of every man, woman, and child who passed them on the street.
Yara meets eyes with a young female. The young half elf can't be much older than Yara. Yara is ashamed of the state they are in infront of the young miss. Turning their eyes back to the ground, and their face away from the girl coming up to them, they wish to become invisible, or to meld into the wall at their back. The young girl crouches in front of Yara, and the shame, and the feelings of weakness intensify. *Please not pity...Gods don't let her pity me...* Yara looks up, without raising their head. The young half elf gives Yara a gentle smile. "Will you play with me?" The small female asks as the sunlight reflects brilliantly off of her silver hair. Yara looks up surprised. "You... You want to play with Yara?" The half elf smiles brightly. "Of course silly. You look lonely.. and I am lonely... so we should play together!" The small half elf reaches a small hand out to Yara. "Come on! We will play, and then you can come home with me for tea and supper!" She grabbed Yara's hand and pulled them to their feet. Yara never looked back as the girl pulled them from the alley that had been their home for the past three years. "Yara.. Is that your name?" The half elf asked as she giggled and ran down the alleys, leading Yara from the slums. Yara stammered, still in shock. "Yes miss... My name is Yara" Hesitation and nervousness seeping into every word. Once clear of the slum, the girl turned to Yara, and embraced them tightly. "You don't have to be afraid with me Yara.. we are friends now.." She let go, and tugged Yara into the yard of the Villiage Chief. "M...Miss .. What do I call you?" Yara felt hope for the first time in their young and miserable life.
