Happy Mermayternity everyone <3 Here is my contribution to the lovely mermayernity fun. Anyway basically Donovan lives in a very rough part of the ocean lots of sharks and bigger more aggressive merfolk live where he does and while he can get on land in his bipedal form he has to go into water as well especially since gravity is hell on the poor cow whales body he is very slender and sleek normally so the extra weight of his calves is extremely rough on him. However in his territory there are very small secluded grottos perfect for expecting merfolk to take advantage of to hide in and rest for a short time surrounded by thick seaweed covers and large undisturbed corals it's easy to settle in and rest the seaweed coated in a soothing residue that when applied to the tender soft bellies of merfolk soothes the strain of growing young and the sea grapes growing from the tips of the longest pieces are extremely nourishing to pregnant merfolk even making their milk even richer for their babies! Donovan found one of the grottos by accident one day and loves it there its very secluded from the agression of the open waters and seems to be untouched by anyone he tends to settle in letting the seaweed wrap around him and soothe his soreness away. He has a lot to worry about birth is going to be extremely rough for him and for him even more stresful as he has to decide whether he will give birth on land or in the sea unsure where he can go and safely labor. He is constantly worried due to other more aggressive predators and of keeping him and his young safe especially since he is on his own through this whole process and going throuhg one hell of a long arduous pregnancy. He however savors and relishes in his small little grotto away from it all simply snuggling into the seaweed and thinking about his babies what they will look like and just the joy of meeting them after working so hard for them. He loves them immensely even before their born and the circumstances of his pregnancy he is happy with them and cherishes them and wants the best for them. So he is extremely happy to take time in a sweet little grotto to bond with them even before their born <3
