Archiving a long and arduous journey to the stars was no easy feat. Many mechs didn’t really enjoy their daily lives aboard the Lost Light being invaded like that, and many more simply didn’t appreciate the value something like this could have thousands or millions of years down the line.
Still, there was one unexpected ally Rewind managed to pick up – the ship’s new ‘mascot’. The human had spotted him filming a couple cycles ago and asked if he could tag along. While Rewind certainly appreciated the little organic’s enthusiasm for his craft, he wasn’t sure why Markus seemed so insistent on relying on clearly inferior technology.
“You do realize I can just share my footage with you later, right?” The mech asked.
Squinting into his little camcorder, Markus nodded. “Of course.”
“And that my camera has significantly higher resolution?”
“Mhm~” His tongue sticking out a bit, Markus made a sharp turn, just about managing to spot Whirl picking a fight with… a door mechanism?
“And you’re recording basically the same thing anyway?”
“Well, I mean…” Markus paused to ponder for a moment. “I guess it’s because I can afford to mess around with my recording a bit. You know, without worrying that it might look silly seven million years down the line in some Cybertronian Hall of Records.”
“Oh.” The archivist would pause at the surprisingly reasonable, yet still insufficient explanation. “I mean… not all of my recordings necessarily end up archived that way. And besides-“
“Well maybe I just want my own copy then!” Markus grinned.
“Why?” Rewind asked, genuinely confused.
“Cause this way I can get your adorable mug in the shot every now and again!”
