I don't see what you've got to be disappointed with about this, everything seems pretty much spot on. :D
I think sketchiness adds to the piece, makes it feel more nostalgic.
It's a really simple piece, but it has so much emotional weight behind it for anyone with a connection to the original material.
It's a perfect tribute to the spirit of the comic. :3

In the shelve behind me is a huge bundle of three books, bound in heavy, brown, paperback labled "The Complete Calvin and Hobbes" - I haven't read through them in like... two years? I think it is time to dust them off.

Oh by theway...it is still uncertain if Hobbes is really just apiece of Calvins imagination. After all there were some events that can hardly be explained without Hobbes having a life of his own.
And if so... how would an aged Hobbes look like? Or would he still be the same.
