The Great Adventure
My half of a trade I did with https://twitter.com/CutiePieYuko who wanted a simple story of her and her bf going on a grand adventure for a treasure.
It was fun to work on, especially the ending...
It was a spring cleaning day for the couple Yuko, a lioness, and Farlay, a fox. They had already tidied up the downstairs up, down, and all around, area and were now moving to the last place in the house for the day, the attic.
“Farlay, can you bring down the staircase for me please?” Yuko asked with a blush, “I- can’t reach it.” “No problem at all,” Farlay smiled as he stepped in front of Yuko.
Farlay pulled down the staircase with a wave of dust behind it, making the two cough and sneeze a little.
“Geez it’s been a bit since we’ve gone up there,” Yuko sneezed as she shook off the dust. “All the more reason to go up there and give it a clean,” Farlay replied as he started to head upstairs, “Come on.”
The two climbed their way up the stairs and into the dark, musky attic, the two now looking for the light switch.
“Okay I think I got it,” Yuko exclaimed as she flicked an unseen switch.
The lights flickered on, clearly having to replace the light bulbs up there and revealing boxes upon boxes covering most of the floor and shelves up there.
“Okay, let’s start off with the smaller boxes today,” Farlay suggested, “Then do the larger ones tomorrow. Does that sound like a plan?” “Y-Yeah a great plan!” Yuko eagerly replied.
Farlay gave Yuko a smile before ruffling her hair, making her a little blushy.
“Alright then come on,” Farlay smiled as he headed for one of the shelves. “I-I’m coming!” she said slightly flustered.
Yuko went over to the shelf parallel to Farlay’s and started to go through the bottom shelves first while Farlay did the same.
An hour or so later…
The two had already gone through most of the small boxes. They were now reaching up for the top shelves so they could finish up for the day.
“We’re almost there,” Farlay smiled as he pulled down a box. “Y-Yeah we are!” Yuko stuttered as she reached up.
Yuko however, was struggling a little to reach the top shelf. She had managed to grab a few boxes, but the last few were a biiiit too far for her reach.
“You need a hand over there?” Farlay asked as he opened another box. “N-Nothing to worry about!” Yuko replied, “I-I can get this!”
Yuko was on her tippy toes now reaching as far as she could, her fingers grazing a box’s edge.
‘You suuuure?” Farlay continued as he glanced her way, “You look like you’re about to f-”
Yuko lost her balance upon him saying that, grabbing onto the shelf before it fell on top of her. This sent the remaining few boxes and their contents flying all over the floor.
“Ow ow ow ouch!” Yuko groaned as she tried to push the shelf off. “Don’t say I didn’t offer help,” Farlay remarked as he set his box down.
Farlay lifted the shelf back onto its feet before helping Yuko up, brushing off some of the dust on her clothes as she rubbed her stomach.
“You okay?” Farlay asked as Yuko shook it off. “I-I’ll be fine,” Yuko nodded as she looked at the stuff on the floor, “A-At least I got the boxes down?”
Farlay rolled his eyes at her joke before kneeling down to pick up the stuff that fell onto the floor.
“You just go ahead and finish going through the boxes I brought down,” Farlay smiled, “I’ll handle these on the floor. Okay?” “S-Sure,” Yuko blushed.
Farlay began to mess around with the fallen items for a brief moment until an old, dirty piece of paper caught his eye.
“Hm?” Farlay remarked as he picked up the paper, “What’s this?” “What’s what?” Yuko asked curiously.
Farlay unfurled the paper to reveal it was an ancient treasure map!
“Whoa!” Farlay exclaimed as he read the map, “When did you have a treasure map in your attic?!” “Wait really?!” Yuko exclaimed in her shock, “Let me see!”
Yuko glanced over Farlay’s shoulder to see that it was indeed a treasure map he had found.
“And it looks like we can go for a little trip to get it,” Farlay smirked as he examined the map closer, “You wanna go for our own sort of vacation?”
Yuko blushed at the very idea of going out for a grand adventure for a treasure, but with a few thoughts crossing her mind.
“After we finish cleaning and get someone to pet sit the guinea pigs okay?” Yuko replied with a smile, “Deal?” “A deal and a half sweetie,” Farlay smiled as he looked at the remaining items, “Let’s get our plans going right away.”
The two were in there for a moment longer, cleaning up what little there was left in their workload before heading downstairs, quickly doing research online to where their treasure is located, and for a pet sitter to have for potentially a month.
Several days later…
The two lovers had left their home a few days prior, on the hunt for their coveted treasure, all equipped with food, camping supplies, and climbing gear. They were currently trying to find a way past a large, raging river to press on in the early morning.
“How do you think we’re gonna get past this river?” Farlay asked as he surveyed the area, “It looks pretty tricky.”
Yuko however saw a series of large rocks that lead all the way across the river.
“It looks a bit dangerous,” Yuko began as she walked towards the rocks, “But it’s the only way I can see to get across.”
Before Farlay could even register what Yuko had said she had jumped over to the first stone, water splashes grazing her ankles.
“H-Hey Yuko! Be careful!” Farlay exclaimed. “Don’t worry about me!” Yuko exclaimed as she hopped to the next one, “I’ll be fine! Come on!”
Farlay took a deep breath and hopped onto the first stone shakily while Yuko skipped across like it was nothing.
“G-Give me a minute Yuko!” Farlay exclaimed as he crossed the next few stones.
Yuko was already across by the time Farlay was halfway there, being all shaky between each jump.
“Come on Farlay!” Yuko cheered, “You can make it over here!”
Farlay nearly slipped when he got to the last rock, his balance completely thrown off.
“Jump!” Yuko exclaimed.
Farlay leaped towards the shore, but nearly fell into the water with the map. Yuko luckily had saved the day by pulling him up by his shirt collar.
Thanks for the save,” Farlay huffed as he fell onto his hands and knees. “D-Don’t mention it,” Yuko huffed as she tried to catch her breath.
Two days later…
The two lovers have continued their long and perilous journey. They’re currently traversing through a dense jungle in the middle of the afternoon with Farlay leading the charge.
“Do you think we’re almost through this jungle?” Yuko asked as a tree branch flicked her back. “I believe we are!” Farlay exclaimed as he saw a light just ahead of them.
They pushed onward for a few more minutes before arriving at the edge of an arid canyon ahead of them.
“Talk about a 180 in the scenery!” Yuko exclaimed as she looked down. “No kidding,” Farlay continued, “But we gotta cross this canyon to get the treasure.”
Yuko backed up a bit when she accidentally kicked a few rocks down hundreds of feet to the depths of the canyon.
“I-I just hope we don’t fall!” Yuko stuttered as she looked around, “Please tell me we can get across quickly.”
Farlay couldn’t see any sort of end so they could go around, but he did spot a rickety old bridge that connected the two sides.
“There’s one way…” Farlay awkwardly remarked, “And you aren’t gonna like it.”
Yuko gulped as Farlay positioned himself on the edge of the bridge, taking a deep breath.
“I’ll go first,” Farlay said, “Then you follow after I cross the bridge. It looks like it can handle one at most.” “O-Okay,” Yuko replied as she slinked behind him.
Farlay then began to walk across the bridge, holding onto the ropes on either side of him tightly as he pushed onward step by step.
“O-Oh boy,” Farlay muttered as he kept going.
He kept going at a shaky pace for the next minute or so until he finally arrived at the other end completely okay.
“It’s okay Yuko!” Farlay exclaimed from the other side, “It’s your turn!”
Yuko gulped again as she stood up to the plate, nervously looking down at either side of her.
“H-Here I go,” she shakily said as she took her first step.
Yuko was moving not only shakier than Farlay, but slower as well. She was completely consumed with fear by the step.
“Come on Yuko!” Farlay cheered as she got closer, “You’re nearly there!”
After at least another two minutes, Yuko finally made it to the other end, but collapsed into Farlay’s arms when she did.
“I-I thought I was gonna die!” she cried as she hugged him close. “It’s okay cutie,” Farlay said as he tried to comfort her, “It’s over now.”
He carried her away from the canyon so they could move along.
A few days later…
They were finally nearing the end of their journey. They were currently climbing up the side of a mountain that appeared to be the very end of the road for their quest. They were already most of the way up.
“This whole thing is finally going to wrap up!” Farlay exclaimed with relief, “We can go home filthy rich soon!” “And have an actual shower!” Yuko replied at the thought.
They were soon able to see the peak of the mountain with a cave entrance up there as well.
“That cave is the end of the road!” Farlay exclaimed as he picked up the pace, “Come on!”
They both ran their way to the top as their excitement overtook them, having to take a breather when they finally made it.
“You got your flashlight ready?” Farlay huffed as he caught his breath. “It’s right here,” Yuko huffed as she pulled out her flashlight.
They both turned on their flashlights as they stepped into the dark cave, glancing around to see all the rock formations adorning the halls.
“Wooow,” the both said in pure awe, “This is incredible!”
They made their way deeper inside, nearly tripping on a few rocks because they were so entranced by their surroundings to even register what was in front of them.
“Definitely couldn't think of a cooler place to hide a treasure,” Yuko remarked. “Maybe a little basic,” Farlay replied, “But yeah.”
They kept going for a few minutes, but when they reached the end, they made it to a dead end.
“Ah great, a dead end?” Farlay remarked, “And it doesn’t look like we can dig through this floor either.” “Well… do you think someone got to the treasure before us?” Yuko replied, “I hope they didn’t but… it’s possible.”
The two were stumped now. They didn’t just wanna turn back after all they’ve gone through to get here.
“I reeeeeally don’t wanna head home now,” Yuko remarked, “Not until we find out what happe-”
Yuko leaned against one of the stalagmites to try and get in a thinking position, only for it to bend back as a secret switch!
“Oh nice job Yuko!” farlay exclaimed, “I didn’t even see that!” “M-Me neither actually,” Yuko chuckled as the cave began to tremble.
The dead end began to open up, revealing a secret door that opens up to a deeper part of the cave with a cloud of dust.
“The treasure’s in here!” Farlay exclaimed as the dust settled.
In the dead center of the room was a large, stone chest with a hole in the ceiling letting sunlight shine down on it like a spotlight.
“Oh come on!” Yuko exclaimed as she went inside, “Let’s open it!”
Farlay and Yuko got to the latch of the chest and got ready to open it together.
“On three,” Farlay began, “A one, a two, and a three!”
They threw open the chest… only to be met with a very, VERY lackluster reward.
“Uh… that’s it?” they both remarked in confused disappointment, “A banana?”
