Can un-official pillowings exist?
YES, YES THEY CAN! --ahem.
Hey everyone, I just answered this question recently and I wanted to make sure I took a moment to post it here so that my immediate followers all know my thoughts on this matter.
Nothing is truly original, nothing can ever really be gate-kept. I personally hate the term closed species and will not be using it for myself or my creations. That's why you don't see me using those tags or labels, I will avoid them most opportunities I get now. I do not agree with the toxic mindset/rules of most "closed species communities" and their owners.
Pillowings and all "cloverse" themed species exist only to help us have creative guidelines and have fun together as a community if we so wish it.
This has always been my answer for un-official pillowings since their creation. Anyone can make them. I can not stop you no matter how much I ask. And frankly? I don't want to stop you. I want to embrace it with you, these little creations bring me immense joy and I'm thrilled I get to enjoy that WITH my community. Let's dream up silly pillow dogs together!
Pillowings and the Pillowing-Pile Group is still a register-only community where you need to obtain a "myo slot" to make a character within the community group and earn cc with them. But it's not at all necessary to have or enjoy a pillowing, we only ask you to register your pillowings because it supports the creators (Prov and AJ / all of CloverCoin staff) so we can keep bringing you more. Plus it also helps our mods a ton in cases of theft/scams. Otherwise we just can't get involved if the character registration isn't moderated by us.
But... that's all an optional choice! And I respect that. I just wanted to let everyone know what my current thoughts were on the matter.

This is a very mature and thoughtful mindset to have. I've seen kids on Pinterest making their own Pillowings, and then being bullied by gatekeepers. I hate the whole "closed species" concept, because it's just limiting people from making something they have an interest in.
Could you imagine if Nintendo made it so you could only make a Pokemon character if you paid for it?
