The female Shardunai can be easily discerned from the males by their gills being located on their sides and the fine going along their backs.
Surprisingly Shardunai are actually quite peaceful, and the guardians they have really are just there to keep the peace throughout their nation. They would happily like to strike up conversations with surface dwellers or those they bumped into while traversing outside of the waters. Although sometimes their size and somewhat intimidating look can be a deterrent for some people.

Korvic's just an outlier to the peace after he saw his district, in particular, get destroyed by a moving group of sailors, which brought him away from his races peaceful path.
