Well it's simple really, the ponies are trapped in the Cloudbreak Islands because their airship had a bad reaction to the magical barrier at the heart of the Everstorm, which lead to a crash landing that broke their propellors, and they desperately need the Dirt Sharks (hypercapitalist burrowing anthro shark bros) to repair their ship before the Drow Air Pirates attack, but the Dirt Sharks demand the ponies solve their problem of not being able to mine the Uberite pillars on the northern plains of Fellis without the pyramid-mounted death ray shooting at them - negotiations with the anthro cougars failed and their research pony was trapped inside the golden idol of the sphinxes, but that turned out to be a bonus as she could access the knowledge of the ancients and manifest a ceramic golem to tell the rest of the party, revealing a secret way into the pyramid through the old Molekin mine, which turned out to be infested with spidrow, so the ponies repaired an old mine train to break the blockade in the central cavern while also distracting the spidrow enough to rescue a captured sphinx, who then helped them bypass the pyramid's traps in order to commune with the ancient spirits of the cougar-taurs, who...
