Chairo V2 is my first and only realistic suit to date. The image here was taken in Southern Bavaria at Neuschwanstein, the castle from which Disney's Cinderella's Castle was modeled. This was on my second trip to EuroFurence in 2005.
The costume was completed in 2004. It has a moving jaw which is based on a wire frame. I wanted a the most realistic movement possible with such a small jaw, so the head incorporates a fulcrum and return system for maximum jaw tracking. The fur is attached to plastic mesh over the metal frame which is held together with JBWeld.
This suit was retired after the trip. It was featured in the Canadian Independent film Behind the Mascot, narrated by Daniel Stern, it can be found on IMDB. The suit was also featured on the cover of Critter Costuming, a book on creating animal costumes by Adam "Nicodemus" Riggs, which can be found on Amazon.com.
What am I doing in the picture? What every medieval raccoon would do, phoning a friend in the states of course! Its a thing we do. Heh.

I think this is the best look I've had of Chairo v.2. Very very nice, man! Why'd you retire him?
I didn't tell you at the time, for which I apologize, but Chris - the fisherman here with the raccoon family - died last month. I'll never forget that time you brought Chairo over to Chris and Pam's house and interacted with their 'coons. You really made them happy, and they always spoke fondly of you after that...

Awwww ... that is so sad to hear. He was such a nice guy too and great with the raccoons. Here is the link to that picture from way back. 1999 was it?
