Back in 2009, I began to experiment with combining comic art and photography - by superimposing anthropomorphic characters onto a photo background.
My first experiment - "Welcome to Margate" - had my bobcat 'fursona' situated behind a sign; but the results were not as impressive as I'd hoped for. You can judge for yourself by going to http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2149244/
A few weeks later, I'd followed up with "Six Months Until Christmas" - a 'fat furry' specialty - with 'Sergei' the lion in a Santa suit (lifted from a greeting card I'd designed many years ago), with New York City as the backdrop. My uses of shading textures and shadows were an improvement, but I still think I could've done better. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2434183/
But this time, I'm certain about the quality of my latest work, as (once again) 'Rob Cat' plays around a sign - this time being in front of it - as my usage of textures and tones are at the best levels to date...
BTW, I also took the background picture. In RL, the only time I'd ever been inside the City of Margate's Department of Public Works was when I was a delivery person for Bennett Auto Supply - where I'd brought the necessary parts for police cars and other utility vehicles in the compound.
Since I haven't been able to get a new job for the City of Margate (following my termination in 1995 at their Permit Department), I wanted to get back at 'the man'. But since many of my plans ran the risk of getting 'jail time', I'd decided to commit a fictitious crime, by having my 'fursona' deface one of the public signs throughout the city. Last year's "Welcome to Margate" was going to involve a graffiti-laden sign, but (at the last minute) I'd replaced the graffiti with dialogue. But this time, I had done the deed. Not only did I commit an act of 'make-believe vandalism', I'd also committed 'theft' - by stealing a gag from an old episode of "The Benny Hill Show"!

Thanks, Captain. I was afraid the graffiti wasn't going to come out right - since there were a lot of patches of light and shadow on the sign, but it worked out fine... and I'm also glad I didn't get chased away by the cops - when I was on the grass, taking a photo of said sign!
