Haha usually guys that talk much get into the big troubles, pointing Nick. :)
But I suppose shoes would look awkward with paws like that.
This reminds me of Heavy Metal quality, though the panels seem to flow ou tof order at times, like panel 2-3 on this page. Eye wants to go down first then to the vertical.
If I may suggest, it feels like the top panels visually flow down first, then right, so perhaps you might consider switching the "Ice can be a tricky thing" and "you're safe one minute..." speech bubbles.
Also, having "but" and "though" in the same sentence is redundant. Sorry for the unsolicited crit. My intentions are good!
In panel four, the character says "But don't let a little growl in the ice scare you though, doc." "But" and "though" in that sentence are superfluous.. you only need one of them. If you say it aloud, you can tell that it sounds a bit off
Otherwise, keep up the good work :)

Also, that third panel is AMAZING.
Maybe I haven't been paying attention, but what is this about a book? I would certainly love to see a graphic novel illustrated by such an excellent artist as yourself.

This is coming along so wonderfully, I'm sitting here trying to figure out how you did that nice effect on the ice.
And while I wish that the other dog was a wiener, my guess is either chocolate lab or Chesapeake Bay retriever?
I'm seeing lots of personality in this Nick. ;D
