Old Trick: Flashback!
CW: Dog bites, blood
We get to see some of the first interactions between our intrepid heroes!
It was definitely smooth sailing right from the beginning.
Absolutely. 100%. That content warning is a lie. xD;
Ed. Note: Sorry if it goes back and forth between 3rd person and 1st. I tried to fix it, but I changed my mind about 3/4 of the way through and there may be some pronouns that I missed. I was looking for a way to not release Javier’s birth name without calling him Javier before he was Javier. @_@

Oooo. now this is an interesting point of view.
Seeing how things are through their eyes gives a whole new perspective on their situation.
I imagined that it must be hard living as strays, but living as strays with human intelligence and thought patterns must be a nightmare most of the time! :(
Poor boys! :(

How human or animal they are kind of depends on the situation. The longer they’re a dog, the more dog-like they can be. I don’t have anything concrete yet, but I’m pretty sure Javier spent some time with actual coyotes when he first ran away, and it’s easier for him to let himself go when that’s his surroundings.
But even immersed in the life of a coyote, Javier was too “human” to stay with them forever, just like Milo was too “human” to keep obediently following commands. It has definitely made it difficult for them in some cases.

So, I am still working through all your stories, but I fav'ed this one (usually I would just do the first page) specifically as it just really touched me.
I have really enjoyed your writing so far (The "Butterfly of Rohan", I think that was the name, has been my favorite, but they are all very good) and has been an amazing encouragement to write more myself after a very long hiatus so, thank you very much.
I have to say, this "Hybrid" comic has been a wonderful read.
