Well no, not really, actually very well designed and fit armor...yeah, now I'm ringing my own bell <.<
Anyways,
inumuro came up to me a while back and commissioned me to design a suit of armor and a rifle for his character Dakota. This is what I came up with in the end.
Now, before I get any assumptions, yes that rifle is based on the MG42 family of weapons, as per request from Inu. The stripes on the armor were also added at his request, so so much for my design decisions :3 as for the camo pattern, I was asked to keep it in grey/white

i like the rifle kinda reminds me of a SAGA-12 a FN-FAL and the MG42 with a touch of that HK flare in the stock. though i have to wonder how the recoil would feel on a configuration like that it doesn't seem to be linear into the shoulder one would think its either high or low because of that upper reviver that goes all the way back acting like a cheek plate...
*smack* bad gun nut, calm down!
nice character!

Well I can only assume that by the overall length of the weapon its an MG but as an MG it has a relatively unconventional setup since most efficient Mgs are belt fed to quickly sort out mechanical problems with jamming and feeding by opening the breach from the top as apposed to a bolt setup of a more conventional AR. Also as an MG feeding from a drum of some kind its still belt fed and usually off to the side. ARs use seated magazines or drums though most do not commonly use this for weight issues and mechanical and heat issues due to prolonged use.
I see the SAIGA in it mostly due to the magazine mostly because its really hefty. Since the SAIGA chambers 12 gauge it has to be large though since its not forward swept like the SAIGA it also suggests that the magazine is seated by sliding it inline with the chamber instead of rocking it (like the AK which is in the Kalashnikov family of rifles)
for the FAL its mostly due to the position of the carry handle but it could also be a M249 although on an M249 the carry handle is more off to the side of the weapon. On the FAL the carry handle is center line with the barrel as most ARs are configured (such as early models of the AR-15s upper reviver) but on the M249 the carry handle is fixed to the spacer ring separating the upper reviver from the forward heat shield.
overly explained for people who aren't fascinated by weapon design. I'm sure you know this because heck you drew it ^^
on another note, I have to compliment you on your helmet design it just sparked something for me that I've been having a problem with in my own designs. I hate bubble helmets but having a muzzle really complicates breathing in combat armor in space =P I like how yours incorporates the jaw pivot into the design. Cool! Thanks!

On the first point. Yes, the MG is actually belt fed, the box is just in a round shape instead of a 'box' :b I was specifically requested to make "a modernized version fo the MG3/42 family"
As for the helmet design: Thank you very much =^-^= I'm glad I can still appeal with what I do. I originally went for a blank sheet as the sort of "faceless warrior" image, but Inu asked me to make it more...featured. You're more than welcome to take inspiration from it, if you need to ^^

sorry for nerd flexing in the comments but i just want to bounce some theories off you. its defenantly an interesting gun and in a sudo science reverse engeniring frame of mind I wonder how it would work. this is less of a critique at this point and more me thinking out loud. i like to make designs work in the real world ^^
interesting use of the drum though I wonder how it would operate. the mg42/34 had drums but they where still fixed to the side of the frame fed threw an open chamber with the belt leading out the opposite side. since there is no belt proper it seems to be linked ammunition as modern belt fed weapons are today but delinking has always been a problem with MGs the M249 and the M134 (more in lack of research/knowledge than actual existence) are the only two weapons that come to mind which can do it reliably but for the same reason the MG42/34 used a feed cover to handle the jamming issues for chamber stresses. the 249 also delinks the rounds as they are fed into the chamber and when it miss feeds the only way to clear the jam is to open the feed cover to clear the casing and link. the Mini doesn't have this problem because the cartridge are delinked before they reach the chamber in an internal magazine that feeds the delinked ammunition into the receiving chamber ejecting the link before the round is even fired.
assuming this weapon didn't solve those design problems i wonder what kind of mechanical assist was developed to help feed reliability, if it did solve those problems i wonder how it did. if it where me i think that this weapon would have a "magazine" feature similar to the M134 but unlike the Gatling gun it would only need to have 1 round in battery as part of the delinking process as the bolt group cycled it would carry the battery round into the chamber delinking the next round into battery as it chambered the first and ejecting the spent round before it. if it where finagled properly (in this configuration) the easiest way to clear a jam would be to cycle the bolt and reseat the magazine.
though in this configuration i wonder where the linkage would be ejected, there is no room between the trigger guard and the belt drum if the linkage would be ejected though the breach that would lead to further jamming problems but if the linkage had its own ejection port on the opposite side it could work. hmmm.... sometimes i wish i knew how to work solidworks so i could prototype stuff like this.....

Love the armor (especially how it fits with the horns), and the fact that the gun is actually well-drawn. Haha all it needs is a bipod and a box-sight (don't want to call it a Holographic because I don't want to sound like I'm pulling from CoD) and you've got a geniune military weapon.
