Well, if you think about it, magic is a form of power. Too much power could fry your body and be dangerous. If you were of the magitech bent, presumably you could enhance certain parts of your body to act as magical capacitors or more efficient conduits to ensure safer power flow. Mental command codes or even reflexive systems could allow nonverbal casting.
*hugs back* I'm glad someone else had a similar thought about combining magic and mad science, and that you don't feel so foolish now. One of my mad scientists characters eventually goes a bit transhumanist. One of his eventual modifications allows him to control magic as a normal spellcaster could.
