What's a NFT ?

A Non-Fungible Token, or NFT, is essentially using cryptocurrency and blockchains to buy a URL to a piece of digital art that was introduced to the general public about a month ago. The reliance on cryptocurrency, which requires exorbitant amounts of computational power and energy to 'mine,' and generates an extreme amount of carbon which is going to hasten climate change. The lack of any real regulation means that scams run rampant, with all cryptocurrencies coming off as hybrid pyramid/ponzi schemes. And that's not even getting into the art theft that happens with NFTs. All to own a hyperlink to an image that's very likely going to break within a few months.

Im beyond confused at that point about why SEGA would partake in that as a video game compagny

Money would be my best guess, but from what I can tell, public opinion on NFTs is pretty negative. And especially with early Sonic media's focus on environmental themes this is going to make Sonic fans (myself included) look unfavorably on the company.

In the next main line Sonic game Eggman is going to use NFTs to power his robot army i bet -w- More seriously thanks for taking the time to answer and you did a great job on Rouge, i hope you'll do more of your take on her ; i like seeing how artists handle and make established characters their own version.
