Been playing some Left 4 Dead with my dad and well after reading up some stuff online I came up with this. Boys and girls this is Kendal. He's one of the Infected. However he's not like most. He's a special type. Some came to call them Wiz Kids. Because they retained much of their human intelligence and abilities. A Wiz Kid is nor stronger on average then your average human but they are quite fast and able to climb most surfaces. Their single most distinguishing features is the ability to control other infected. Well to a degree anyway. They can send infected simple commands such as "Stop." "Go that way." " Attack." "Guard" "Work." Once given these commands most infected will heed them. Only other Special Infected sometimes are resistant. The Tank for example will heed no command when in a rage. Wiz Kids also have one big weakness. They tire easily and will need to rest for a time. When they need to sleep they'll retreat to a hidden small out of the way spot to rest. Most of them create their own little dens trying to mimic the rooms they remember from before being infected. They're very vulnerable when asleep as almost nothing will wake them until they're rested. That goes for bodily functions. Many Wiz Kids loose simple toileting skills as their more active yet restricted nervous system is overwhelmed with other things. Many instinctual will try and fashion something like a diaper for themselves if they can't find the real thing. All and all though they aren't dangerous unless provoked or frightened. If their trust can be gained they may prove useful in a survivor group warding off unwanted infected.

Kendal or Ken as he's often just called has had a trying experience. He was turned during the initial infection His memories are fragmented thanks to it. He has some speech difficulties but is adapting to life among normal people again. He's no longer infectious but because the infection affects DNA it's results are determinant. Ken will be like this for the rest of his life. Wither he'll age or not they don't know. But for now he's found a new home with one of the survivors in a group he helped to make it out of a city. So he's well looked after. His adoptive father likely owes him his life many times over.
